HOSTING A HOUSE CONCERT
Wnat is a house concert?
A concert in a house is exactly like a concert in a small club with a listening audience, but without the noisy bar! It's a very personal and interactive way to hear music up close.
How do I host one?
Once you agree on a date for the show, it's time ot start inviting your friends, neighbors, co-workers etc. Susan will send you an e-flyer invite and email outline which you can send out. You don't need a huge space to host. You'd be surprised how many people you can fit into your living room. Sometimes outdoor concerts are possible, but due to acoustics, inside usually works better. Concerts also work better with at least 20-25 people attending and each guest makes a suggested donation for the evening. Often hosts make the events BYOB.
What happens during the show?
Susan plays 2 sets of about 35-40 mins each, with a short break in the middle for people to grab a drink etc. Since Susan's house concerts have taken her around the globe, a large part of her shows are the stories and experiences she has gathered while traveling. She'll tell you about her time in Folsom Prison, fishing in the Arctic Circle and what it's like to drive around the world, stopping off in houses along the way to give concerts, thanks to the many, many wonderful hosts all over the world.
